Could Dressing in Men’s Clothing Save You Money?

Could dressing in Men’s clothing save money?

Fashion Editor, Prue Lewington dressed in men’s clothing for a week and found she saved money and her colleagues were none the wiser with her outfits of choice.

Her research found jeans and sweaters cost $20 more on a women’s floor than a men’s in high turn around fashion stores like Topshop and Zara.

Men’s shirts at Marc’s are sold for $110 while the similar design in the women’s section are sold for $150.

Peter Barry, CEO of Webster Holdings who own Marcs advised the women’s shirts were made from silk and the men’s made from cotton. He further explained “The yield and the fabric impact the price. A silk shirt is finer and more difficult to work with so it can’t be sewn as quickly,”

Prue revealed her wardrobe for the week wearing items from men’s stores. The biggest reaction she received was when she wore her MC Hammer style shorts.

And we’ve found some men’s clothing so you can have a go at the challenge yourself.

Do you shop in the men’s section for clothes? Would you shop in the men’s section or do women have enough choice to suit their taste and budget?
