The formula for clearer skin in winter may be as simple as heading to the fridge and eating some of these foods to maintain vitality to your complexion. Here are a list of foods (and some are herbs and spices) that will help you achieve smooth skin.

Fish are packed with omega 3’s and antioxidants. Fish like salmon, sardines , anchovies and mackerel can help repair and hydrate skin cells.

Blueberries contain anthocyanin which fights against free radical damage and promotes youth.

Beans offer protein and fibre which helps to keep the bowel moving. If the body functions as it needs to you will have healthy skin.

Almonds are full of vitamin E which fights free radical damage from outside. They are also a mood elevating snack. So not only will your skin improve, so will your body.

Leafy greens like spinach. Spinach and kale are rich in vitamin A. These foods strengthen blood vessel walls and protects the eyes against dark circles.

Tomatoes can guard against ageing caused from the sun.

Avocados keep the skin hydrated and give it flexibility. It’s a great source of vitamin E, B, potassium and monounsaturated fatty acids.

Tumeric slows the signs of ageing like the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. It has the highest level of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits of all foods and spices.

Cucumbers prevent puffiness and water retention. They are high in silica and can reduce swelling.

A combination of these foods, herbs and spices can give your skin the nutrients it needs to have a dewy complexion.
